The same information can also be displayed in a browser window.

Contents
The word details include:
- the basic form of the word
- the part of speech
- links to online dictionaries
- (for verbs) links to online conjugation tables
The basic form
The basic form of the word is usually identical to the word in the game.
However, it can deviate from this rule if the word:
- is a verb form
- is an inflection or plural form of a noun
- is an inflection of an adjective
Here are a few examples
Case | Word in the game | Basic form |
---|---|---|
Verb | went | to go |
Plural | days | day |
Plural | feet | foot |
The basic form is used in particular in links to online dictionaries and conjugation tables.
Part of speech
Parts of speech include nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, etc.
Note:
Many words can be used as different parts of speech. For simplicity's sake, Word Ladder only shows one part of speech. For more detailed information, click on one of the dictionary links.
Verbs
For verbs, the verb form is explained, e.g. ‘simple past, 3rd person, singular’.
Note:
The same verb form can sometimes be used with different pronouns. For example, ‘I walk’ or ‘you walk’ or the infinitive 'to walk'. For simplicity's sake, Wortleiter only explains one example at a time.
In some cases, Word Ladder also displays a sample text.
Here is an example with the word 'hums'.
For verbs, Word Ladder also provides links to some online conjugation tables.
Dictionaries
Word Ladder always displays links to online dictionaries. The link uses the basic form of the word.
Neighbouring words
A diagram showing the neighbouring words is displayed on the browser pages.
For example:
If you click on one of the neighbouring words, the page for that word will open.
This diagram is not displayed in the pop-up window with the word details, but in a separate pop-up window that can be opened via the neighbour icon . This icon appears after 40 seconds.
In this pop-up window, all words can be used as links to open the word details page.
